Step One: Choosing TruDesign
Talk to Our Team
We’ve made getting acquainted easy. In a brief phone call, we’ll talk about your home. If you decide to continue the conversation, we’ll schedule a visit to your home to discuss your project in detail.
Initial In-Home Meeting
This complimentary meeting is obligation-free. We’ll assess the space, ask questions, and listen carefully to make sure we understand your goals and expectations. We’ll introduce you to our company and explain our process, so you know what to expect when you work with us. Because it’s important to honor the style of your home, we pay special attention to unique circumstances or architectural details.
Design & Development Agreement
If you choose to work with us, you’ll sign a Design & Development Agreement. Our fee varies depending on the size and complexity of the project. It covers the cost of design, pays for a complete set of construction plans, and secures your spot in the schedule. Next, we’ll schedule a time to measure your space and delve further into the details of your project.
Step Two: Design & Development
It usually takes several weeks to iron out all the details and pricing. Planning a complete project can take months. Kitchen design and development usually takes 10 to 12 weeks.
Design and Selections
We’ll present concepts for your space. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of the different concepts. You’ll decide which concept to develop further.
Next, we’ll create a preliminary design and realistic budget. The design will include ideas for finishes. And the budget will be based on data from similar projects.
Then, we figure out all the details. This step involves some back and forth to arrive at a final design that hits your sweet spot. We’ll show you detailed drawings and 3D renderings, answer questions about cost, and help you select materials such as cabinetry, countertops, plumbing fixtures, hardware, lighting, etc. You can control costs, or splurge a little, according to your priorities.
Trade Partner “Walk-through”
When the design is final and all the selections are complete, we’ll invite our trade partners to a “walk-through”. We’ll brief them on the project so they can provide accurate pricing for labor and materials.
Fixed-Price Contract
We will provide a detailed, fixed‐price construction contract for your project. It will include final construction plans, a detailed scope of work, the materials that will be used, and real, reliable, accurate pricing.
Step Three: Construction
Pre-Construction Meeting
Before construction begins, the project manager will meet with you to discuss the overall project and schedule. We'll introduce you to our online project management system, where you will be able to see project details, review schedules, as well as send and receive messages. Everything will be documented in this system to prevent miscommunication and ensure accuracy.
Construction
Once construction begins we will keep you informed through our project management system. By using this system we can keep you and the whole team up to date. Our crews will be considerate of the neighbors and will keep the job site clean. Our designers and project managers will stop in to assure everything is in order, as well as review any new items.
Final Walkthrough
When the work is complete, we will do a final walk-through to make sure the finished project meets or exceeds your expectations. We have a year long warranty period in case any unexpected events occur.
